Hergla (هرقلة) is a coastal town 25 kilometers north of Sousse.
It is situated along a large sandy beach. Is the center of a major tourism project comprising 30,000 beds a resort, a marina and a golf course built in a forest of
1,200 hectares.
Its economy is based on fishing, crafts (ceramics, and esparto) and tourism.
The modern town has developed on the former Horrea Coelia so are some ruins.
Hergla, which compared to Sidi Bou Said, perfectly combines the traditional charm with modern comforts.
So far the town has no hotels but there is a wide selection of apartments located near the beach. Not recommended for those who enjoy the nightlife.
